Nothing is much more important in a woman's fashion world than her shoes. When an added "punch" is needed to an ensemble, the ideal pair of shoes is nearly always the answer. But as a lady's collection continues to grow, the problem becomes not really which pair to wear, but more importantly, how to properly store and care for their valuable finds. For most, the problem becomes closet and storage space. And for those who rent their residences, it can become a larger problem than thought due to the fact that they are unable to make changes to their home.

If one owns their own home, the solution is quite simple: building shelves within their closet. While time consuming, this is a permanent and very easily accessible solution to not just store your shoes, but also to display them as well. In order to accomplish this, you would need shelving, a stud finder, a screwdriver (preferably electric) and screws, along with brackets to hold the shelving in place. You would then have to spend time finding the proper location to place the screws, and then bolt each bracket to the wall before you could install the shelving. There is also the worry that the shoes will be as well heavy for the shelves, and your shoes will begin tumbling down inside your closet.

For those who are renting, we have to become a small much more creative. Sure there's the hanging canvas shoe holder that you can purchase to hang on the back of your closet door but if you're like most women, those holders do not provide nearly the space that is needed. There's also the option to store the shoes under the bed but who wants to crawl in the floor every morning to find the pair they need?

One suggestion is to purchase individual clear boxes to store the shoes, and then stack them on top of one another. While this is an excellent remedy, it can make shoes hard to locate in a hurry. An option would be to take color photographs of each pair of shoes and attach it to the front of the clear box in order to briefly grab what you need, but then what happens when the pair you're looking for is on the extremely bottom of the pile?

However, the perfect solution for this problem can be found online at many different locations. Their are solutions designed to look like high-class furniture, some are even capable of storing flats, heels and boots while keeping your shoes free of dust, scuffs and other household dander. Assembly is fairly simple compared to building your own shelving, as you only have to purchase the base and the boxes to create the ideal shoe trap. While it is pricey compared to the canvas shoe holders, this solution will not really just give your closet an updated look, but also stand the test of time.
