For nearly 100 years Yaskawa has been one of the main companies involved in mechatronics supplying an immense range of motion control products around the world. The company produces and develops such items as motion controllers, inverters and servo motors. In the following article I introduce Yaskawa servos including Sigma-2, Junma, SmartStep and Sigma V.

Sigma-5 Servo Systems

Yaskawa's latest range of servo motors, Sigma V, set a new benchmark for competing companies to attempt to reach. Sigma V servo motors and drives deliver fantastic response and also a fabulous settling time. The Sigma-5 servo amplifier features the highest performance in the industry with advanced autotuning including real-time adaptive load control. Available rotary models from 50W to 15kW, 0.159 to 95.4Nm of torque, and speeds of up to 3000 RPM. Available in 100V, 200V and 400V models with a 1.6 kHz frequency response. Linear models from 12.5 to 2000N at speeds as fast as 5 m/Sec. Both available in either three phase or single phase. With Sigma-5 servo systems available in a wide range you can be certain to find a model for your specific application requirements.

Sigma-2 Servo Systems

Sigma II rotary and linear servomotors have proven reliability in terms of performance and quality they are unbeaten in the industry. Yaskawa's Sigma 2 servo amplifiers are surprisingly compact and have analogue and pulse inputs as standard. Automated functions include motor recognition and tuning. Servo motors are available in 5 linear and six rotary forms. The addition of optional cards provide facilities for motion controllers, field busses and indexers and SigmaWin and SigmaWin + software can be used to capture command references, speed and torque.

Sigma-2 motors are available with motor powers from 30W to 55kW, torque of 0.09 to 350Nm, and speeds as fast as six thousand RPM. Available in input voltages of 100, 230 and 480VAC and three or single phase models. With Sigma II servos available in a wide range of models you can be certain to find one perfect for your individual requirements.

Junma Motor Servo Systems

Junma systems provide an affordable solution for medium inertia compact servo systems. The Junma servo motors and drives feature the expected reliability and quality. Delivering high speed, high accuracy, high torque and high response these servo systems have plug and play ease of use, with no setting up required. Junma servo systems are available with powers ranging from 100-750W (torque 0.318 to 2.39Nm) with speeds of up to four thousand five hundred RPM, available with single phase drives.

Yaskawa Smartstep Servos

SmartStep servo systems provide a simple route to progress from the simplicity of stepper systems to the capability of servo systems. Pulse train inputs can be configured by dip switches and auto-tuning performs the remainder of the setup. Yaskawa SmartStep benefits include 300% peak current for start up. SmartStep servo systems are available with motor powers from 30-750W (torque 0.09 to 2.39Nm) with speeds as fast as three thousand RPM, with single phase drives.
